Richard, a celebrated titan of the literary world, stands at the podium of a black-tie event accepting a prestigious award. He has spent forty years choosing the cold discipline of his writer's desk over the messy vulnerability of his life. But tonight, Richard will finally measure his life's true achievement.
In a kitchen at midnight, a young woman turns to her mother after yet another breakup. She defends her romantic exits with wit, detailing a humorous laundry list of flawed men from a boyfriend who cried over a goldfish to another who shopped at Baby Gap. But as her mother gently peels back her daughter's comedic defenses, a raw truth emerges. In a world where love and grief are "one thing wearing two coats," she must decide whether she has the courage to finally stay.
